2026 Gaming in Spain Conference is being held this week in Madrid

The 2026 Gaming in Spain Conference takes place in Madrid on Thursday, October 15, with regulators, industry representatives and law enforcement officials set to discuss the country’s evolving iGaming rules.

The 2026 Gaming in Spain Conference is scheduled for Thursday, October 15 in Madrid. It will feature presentations from key stakeholders in Spain’s regulated iGaming market, including Mikel Arana, director general of the DGOJ; Justo Sancho, the DGOJ’s director of safe gambling; Jorge Hinojosa, director general of Jdigital; David Calvete Sarasa, chief inspector with the National Police; and Xavi Munoz Bellvehí, managing partner at ECIJA Barcelona.

Spain’s regulated iGaming sector is facing far-reaching regulatory reforms, including cross-operator deposit limits and a central DGOJ-mandated problem gambling detection algorithm. The government has also announced longer-term amendments to Spain’s Gambling Act.

Jdigital, which represents Spanish-licensed operators, recently announced judicial proceedings against the cross-operator deposit limits and signaled it would not cooperate with the Gambling Act overhaul. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Pedro Sanches unexpectedly called snap elections for November 29 following protests over housing shortages and opposition refusal to support the government’s handling of the housing crisis. It remains unclear whether the current government will return to power and continue its gambling reforms.
