Casinos Austria confirms Andreas Bierwirth will be its new CEO

Casinos Austria has named Andreas Bierwirth as its next chief executive, succeeding Erwin van Lambaart from March 2027 and leading a management board reduced to two members.

Casinos Austria has confirmed Andreas Bierwirth as its next chief executive, succeeding Erwin van Lambaart as CEO of Casinos Austria AG and of Österreichische Lotterien GesmbH. The supervisory board appointed him as CEO and chairman of the management board effective March 14, 2027, after an international search supported by an external personnel consultant.

Van Lambaart, who will be 64 when his board contract expires in March, said the changing environment would benefit from a new leadership team. After his departure the board will consist of two members, Bierwirth and Martin Skopek. ÖBAG board member Edith Hlawati cited Bierwirth's year as chief transformation officer and his earlier management record, while supervisory board chairman Robert Zadrazil credited van Lambaart with strengthening both companies' position and advancing their digital transformation.

Allwyn CEO Robert Chvatal thanked van Lambaart and said he looked forward to working with Bierwirth. Bierwirth said the coming year brings the re-awarding of the lottery and casino concessions and liberalisation of the online market, which he described as a particular management challenge for a former monopolist. He also noted the company marks 40 years of lotteries this year and 60 years of casinos next year.
