New Zealand invites 11 companies to apply for an online gaming license

New Zealand’s Department of Internal Affairs has advanced 11 companies to the application stage for online casino licences, with 15 licences available under the Online Casino Gambling Act 2026 at a price of US$8.4m.

New Zealand’s Department of Internal Affairs has named 11 companies that progressed to the next round for online gaming licences. They have been invited to apply for one of 15 licences available under the Online Casino Gambling Act 2026 at a price of US$8.4m.

The companies are Baytree Interactive Limited (Betway), Christchurch Online NZ Limited, One Casino Limited, Playvia Gaming (NZ) Limited (Entain), Rock Swift Group Limited, Rush Entertainment Limited, Skill On Net Limited, SkyCity NZ Online NO1 Limited, SkyCity NZ Online NO2 Limited, Stake New Zealand Limited and TAB New Zealand.

Applicants must provide a business plan, marketing strategies and consumer protection details. The department said auction success does not guarantee a licence, and all successful entities must complete a detailed application and assessment process before licensing decisions. SkyCity Entertainment Chief Executive Jason Walbridge said the company was excited to advance with two licences and would combine trust in the SkyCity brand with its knowledge of the New Zealand market.
