PAGCOR targets December launch of app vs. illegal online gambling

PAGCOR is aiming to launch a mobile app in December 2026 that would help players verify licensed online gaming platforms and avoid illegal sites.

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) is targeting December 2026 for a mobile application intended to help players identify licensed online gaming platforms and avoid illegal gambling sites, Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco said.

PAGCOR’s Board of Directors approved the app’s development and implementation on October 8, including a proposed partnership with Development Bank of the Philippines Data Center, Inc. (DCI). Under the plan, DCI would develop, host, operate, maintain and support the platform at no cost to PAGCOR, subject to applicable laws and regulations.

Before full implementation, DCI must present a proof of concept for the minimum viable product for PAGCOR’s evaluation and acceptance. The six-month assessment will cover features, system architecture, security controls and feasibility. The arrangement runs five years and may be renewed by mutual written agreement; PAGCOR may terminate it if deficiencies are not addressed within a reasonable time. Data privacy and cybersecurity compliance, including the Data Privacy Act of 2012, is required.
